I am embarrassed to say I am a Californian today since it means I am associated with these good, Christian citizens.
The children are from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador whose parents told them to flee their homeland to escape the violence there.
What Vargas says shocked him most was their greatest fear of all.
"These kids interestingly seem to be more afraid of the angry mob in Murrieta than the murderers down in Honduras," he said. "There's something wrong here."
Vargas says when they arrived in El Centro, they feared some American protestors might want to kill them.
"They thought they were going to get off the bus and have to run the gauntlet of these angry people, hitting them with signs and hitting them with clubs," he said. "They heard what happened in Murrieta, so they were terrified."

We were built on the backs of immigrants, we offered an escape from tyranny and war, destitution and suffering. And now, some talk radio yahoos who watch only Fox News and love conceal carry, act like violent and spoiled children.
The Right has a lot to answer for.

I would that they were identified by name and publicly shamed. There is a time and place for shaming and this is one of those times.

(1,357 posts)They have a new page to answer FAQs regarding the immigrants. Here is a gem of a question:
If we see immigrants wandering the streets is there someone we can call to pick them up?
Once Border Patrol has identified and processed the illegal immigrants, they are allowed to legally remain in the United States until their appointed hearing date. Local law enforcement has no legal reason to detain them, unless they have committed a separate violation of state law or local ordinance. Local law enforcement officers are precluded from enforcing immigration law by department policy. Law enforcement agencies and their officers will always respond to calls for service to intervene and assist as needed in humanitarian efforts.
What exactly does a wandering immigrant look like?

(32,033 posts)If this protest happened in Texas or Alabama you'd have good reason to be embarrassed. But California is a PROGRESSIVE state. I mean, California even has sanctuary cities in the major metro areas for cryin' out loud!
