Diane Bostick, who fought back breast cancer in 2009 but later found the cancer had spread to her brain, received a literal ray of hope, becoming the first person in Central Florida to undergo a new laser thermal treatment for brain tumors.
Five days later, the Orlando woman was mowing her lawn.
"I was the perfect candidate," said the wife and mother of two grown children, who had worried her doctor would say the dreaded, "There's nothing more we can do."
Bostick, 51, was diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago. She fought it with chemotherapy, radiation and a lumpectomy. Despite all that, her cancer doctor told her that her form of cancer was the type that would return.

(4,253 posts)My son who was almost never sick had seizures for the 1st time and a brain operation 3 days later. He was 2 weeks from his 25th birthday. He had 2 operations , radiation and chemos and MRI showed brain tumour. 2 months later it was back and he had another operation . He lived for a month in intensive care. From time of, seizures to death, 18 months.
My son had the same tumour as ted Kennedy. This woman's brain tumour is a secondary. She had breast cancer first. This often happens. It happened to my best friend.
Also after his first 2 brain operations he was up and doing things normally. He was not allowed to drive a car. He did rollar blade to the hospital for his appointments.
