Just a reminder: you don't have to be a med. prof.

To learn CPR. You don't have to be a doctor or nurse to learn CPR. American Red Cross, American Heart Association, local hospitals, etc offer classes periodically. Courses usually include how to use the new AEDs (automated electric defibrillators) and a few other First Aid tips, including choking and blocked airway.

Its a great idea to have several people at work certified. And Good Samaritan laws protect you.

It you live or work with Dick Cheney, please disregard this public service announcement.

Not only is it summertime, with many possible health threats, but our system of first responders is being harmed by lack of funding.

i have been Red Cross certified every 2 years for ages, as a job requirement.
Well worth the time.

It's roughly half a day to learn how to save someone's life in numerous circumstances so you aren't standing there wringing your hands wishing you knew what to do.

A cousin had to do CPR on a college student at a sporting event. She was glad she had the knowledge and skill to at least attempt it while the paramedics were on their way.

The AEDs are in many public and government buildings now. They are easy to use. Before long, you actually learn to spot and remember their locations.
