(3,733 posts)Now they just have t DO IT.
malaise
(269,175 posts)They haven't even earned one freaking corner. I suspect they're playing for penalty kicks again.
Either try to score or lose. The Netherlands are getting closer

(6,261 posts)He was manhandled the whole way. I don't like the guy either, but that's just ridiculous. He was the most creative
player on the pitch today, and I don't think he dived once. Diaz should have seen his second yellow on at least two occasions.
Costa Rica gambled on penalties today and lost.
They didn't go for goals until way too late. One corner in 120 minutes speaks volumes

(5,477 posts)instead of flying to the ground like being shot. You don't consider this a dive?
Ron Obvious
(6,261 posts)Because you're leaving off the replay from the other angle which showed that he was clearly yanked by the Costa Rican who was rightly carded for it.
Not even close.
On edit: this was the Guardian's Minute by Minute from that incident:
81 min: Robben turns Gonzalez brilliantly down the left, on the edge of the penalty area. Gonzalez tugs him to the floor. Robben falls in the area, but the foul was outside the box. Free kick. Gonzalez is rightly booked, and will miss the semi should his country make it.

(9 posts)I was SO ROOTING for them, esp. since my little chi-corgi mix is named...TICO!!! I remember looking in dictionaries trying to find a name that would work well with what I named my first little guy, Toro (who passed away 2 years ago August). Tico was adopted from the shelter after being found in a ditch as a 6 month old. He's 13 this month (we think) and sitting on my lap right now, sad that Costa Rica lost!
malaise
(269,175 posts)you're good to go.
They reached way further than anyone expected and were fighting way above their weight today.
They should be satisfied that it reached penalty kicks because the Netherlands should have won it in regulation time.
