I don't know how much more I can take...

I absolutely, with every fiber of my being, HATE rightwingers. A white-hot hatred that eats at my soul.

Now they're trying to take N Carolina by bringing back Jim Crow. Their crimes against women, and other outrages, are met with demonstrations so small and ineffective that the rightwingers just laugh at them.

I don't have to tell all of you of all the atrocities we allow them to get away with. The fact we continue to allow it has me so depressed I'm thinking of going into the wilderness and never again seeing any more of "civilization" than a supply store in some far away village.

I can only hope, at this point, that there is a HUGH but non-vocal segment of society that is large enough and motivated enough to turn out and put these fucking assholes out of office.

Every single vote matters. How many can you get to the polls?

That is not to say I, or we, shouldn't. But I hate them so much that I honestly don't think I could gracefully handle running across a rabid rightwinger in that attempt without either ending up dead or injured or end up dishing out my own hurt.

The moment I find out someone thinks that way, I instant loathe them for being so greedy, so cold, and so stupid.

Pick a person to support. Funnel all your angry energy into getting that person votes! Register people, hang signs, answer phones or whatever. Before long you've got a movement going and with enough movement momentum can change.

Every great journey begins with the first step.

Is it possible to channel energy into doing stuff in the community that will aggravate rightwingers? Remember when Michael Moore showed Farenheit 451 on the wall of a barn because the theater wouldn't let the film play somewhere in Michigan? Or that person on DU who moved a book by Sean Hannity next to the douches at Walmart. I know such "guerrilla" tactics may seem pointless, but they might give you some small satisfaction and help you find some like-minded friends?

Anyway, you should know you are not alone. A lot of us barely survived the Cheney/B*sh years.

It seems like every step forward results in 3 steps back. Some days it is clear to me that the world the conservatives seek to create is fast slipping away as more and more people become enlightened about race, issues related to sexuality, and class inequality. But it is slow moving forward and I fear there are some things I won't see in my lifetime even though I have half a lifetime left.

I don't mean that in a negative way at all, I'm serious. Either turn your anger into something more effective than stewing in it, and run for office, or else help someone you support run for public office.

In your own words: "A white-hot hatred that eats at my soul."

Hate is self-destructive, but it's not hurting those you hate. I completely agree that people need to stop allowing these atrocities. I'd rather see us get active about it, put our money, our votes, and our shoe-leather where our mouths are, than see us wallow around in impotent, self-destructive hate.

I'm happy to join you in doing whatever it takes to put these fucking assholes, and I include neo-liberals in that description, out of office.

Meanwhile, you want a HUGE non-vocal segment to get motivated. Not a HUGH.

It would be healing to have the left remind the right of their actual dogma. It's not about borders or contraception, but about love.

... hope. AFTER you have done all you can do. I think the time is coming, CTDem, when the tide is going to turn. This fall may just be that time. Have faith in pure demographics. That should give you hope, if nothing else does. I have no use for Republicans, myself, and stay as far away from them as possible.

how hopeless it feels sometimes, I will continue to fight back by pounding the pavement for votes. It's just that it seems we do that and end up going further backwards than we are forward, and in the wrong direction. We have to fight so much every day that, when it comes to really having to fight really freakin' hard (like GOTV), it's hard to find the energy it requires when you know it will be a short-lived, bittersweet victory before they start tearing what you've done apart.

I'll continue to fight because it's all I can do.

And hey, if you choose to head to the woods, I don't think that's a bad idea either! You can do one of those "On Golden Pond" deals and work on your memoir to leave for your family some day. Smell the roses, watch the birds, sleep in the hammock.
