Conservatives fear being on the bottom rung of the social or economic ladder, especially when, by all rights, they deserve to be there (for example, due to squandering a good opportunity for education, or a history of cheating rather than working hard to get what they need.)
This kind of person feels entitled not to be at the bottom because of some physical quality, (ex: skin color, good looks) or social status (wealth, family history, or being the "right" religion).
