My election nightmare scenario

Anyone with half a brain knew that it was going to take several years to clean up the mess that shrub left when President Obama took office. And while they're signs of recovery, I'm concerned that they aren't happening fast enough. If the rethugs take control in the 2014 elections, they will falsely take credit for any economic improvements possibly giving them the oval office in 2016.

The outcome of rethugs taking control in 2016 would be devastating. It would put them in a position to replace any outgoing Supreme Court justice, both ours and theirs, with a bat shit crazy, brown shirt conservative. This would only be the beginning of the nightmare. As mentioned earlier, with continual improving economical conditions, the years 2016 and 2020 could be boon years, not because of what they have done, but what President Obama has started.

All of this could lead to a sweep in the 2020 elections. Here's where the nightmare should wake you up, even from the deepest sleep. The rethugs would be in control for the 2020 census. YIKES!!!!

if they are in control in 2016, IMO, it will clearly spell the end of a democracy and a strong shift toward a theocratic/autocratic government/country. As the US continues its exponential march toward total Idiocracy, some very disturbing events will surely happen.

Whatever 'recovery' we have, and I don't see that happening, Obama or the Republicans will have little to do with it.

not matter, it will serve them well, unfortunately, as propaganda IMO. ... if this series of events does occur.

While Bernanke was a Bush appointee it only happened because Greenspan's policies were failing hard and he even admitted as much after leaving office.

We could get another Greenspan in 4 years if we lost the Presidency (say, Jerome H. Powell).

5. Three things:

First of all, we have to get people to start voting like they should. We need voter turnout every two years as much as during the Presidential election years, or at least close to it. If we don't somehow get people to participate, there's really nothing we can do to stop the GOP.

Second, we have to get money out of elections, so that means we need to begin our efforts to do that right now. It takes years to get anything done in our system, so we need to start planning for 2020 now. The GOP knows this, which is why they started making their plans to take over state houses long before they were able to do it. The Democrats are sorely in need of people who plan for the future instead of just dealing with things as they come.

Lastly, we need Democrats who act like Democrats. When conservative Democrats run, voters get confused, and when voters get confused, anything can happen. Voters need to know which party is on their side, not a party that panders to this group over here and that group over there. When Democrats are all over the map, voters either stay home because they don't feel like they're being represented, or they vote for Republicans because at least they stand for something.
