Douglas County can contribute less to retiree health plans than it does to those of active employees, the Nebraska Supreme Court ruled Friday.
The court reversed a district judges decision last year to refund more than $1 million in health care premiums to Douglas County retirees.
Justice William B. Cassel wrote that Douglas County District Court Judge Gary B. Randall erred in his March 2013 ruling granting the award, which also included $179,000 in attorneys fees.
The dispute stems from the Douglas County Boards decision in 2009 to increase retirees contribution to their health insurance premiums.

Snip: Two retired deputies, Sam Christiansen and Rich McShane,
I've known Rich McShane since before I could walk. He saved an infants life many years ago and was decorated for it. I wonder how that child's parents feel about his increase in the cost of his benefits now that he retired?
