Is Rachel Maddow brave enough to interview Jimmy Carter

about the genocide, destruction of homes and infrastructure as well and land theft in Gaza?

Is anyone else on network or cable TV?

This has got to be the last straw - condemn this Obama, have a national broadcast and condemn this.
Fuck the neo-cons in the Democratic Party and speak out. Meet with Carter - time to deliver.

That is all.

Starting when he won the nomination for the Presidency, defeating Ted Kennedy. The Dems in Congress never gave him any support, even tho everything he did was right, and Reagan "paid" the Ayatollah in Iran to hold the hostages till after the election....forgive spelling, it's been a long time.

I will never forget Ted Kennedy turning his back to Carter's offer to shake hands when he got the nomination. Kennedy was pissed.

I was discussing this yesterday in response to another DUer and asked them when was the last time she discussed the middle east on her show. That poster responded with a clip from two weeks ago, very brief, and where the only question by Rachel to a foreign correspondent was whether Israel's military goal in Gaza was "doable". I'm a big fan of Rachel and I try to catch her show as much as possible but sometimes I miss it and I may have missed recent segments on Gaza. I've seen her cover the Russian-Ukarinian conflict exhaustively, with hard-hitting and lengthy reports. But I haven't seen much of anything from her on Gaza. Could it be I missed those nights or does she seem to want to avoid reporting on this conflict? Like I said, I like her and hoped to get her take and a hard-hitting, detailed report.

Chris Hayes led off with lengthy Gaza coverage before Rachel's show and Lawrence O'Donnell led off his show with more lengthy Gaza coverage, after Rachel's show. Not a peep from Rachel. I told myself that she probably knew they were going to focus on Gaza so she covered something else to avoid being repetitive. Then, the next night, she again avoided the topic, and that was when the big story was the destruction of Gaza's only electricity power plant. I wonder if Rachel is intentionally avoiding this or, as probably the most popular, outspoken, hard-hitting, thorough, and intellectually gifted reporter on MSNBC (in my opinion) she's received marching orders to really soft pedal this issue for some reason. I find it odd (again unless I've missed the shows she's covered the issue, but I think I've watched her nearly every night).

Rachel knows who butter her bread and look face the facts folks, she has been told NOT TO COVER THE STORY, period. It's that that hard to figure out.

Watch international media and learn some about Gaza and Israel. The American Media can only cover what their "bosses" tell them to cover. period....

I feel what you and many DUers feel who are so sad for these children and families who are pawns, victims. A UN official described it as "carnage."

It is time to do something. Your idea is great about Obama publicly condemning these attacks in a prime nighttime speech, and I think most Americans (Jewish Americans, too) will agree with him. I don't think they will back down, but I hate to be associated with us sharing the blame without at least speaking out.

Israelis may may think they are winning but no good will come of this, and I fear for the whole Mideast - ISIS will only grow stronger.

I can't imagine the hard feelings over these attacks being forgotten or forgiven, but Israel is our ally, and I hate to think of what may happen there if the opposition ever gets their act together. I don't like Jewish kids being slaughtered either.

I love kids...

This will not end well, regardless of the peace talks resuming as just announced on TV..

I love Kerry, and he must have the hardest job in the world. To Obama's credit, it's pretty well understood that Netanyehu hates him....a plus for him I think.

The pro Israeli government (as opposed to a much larger support for the people) is so strong here in our govt and media, I dont see that changing, including from Obama admin, anytime soon.

And I dont take sides on this at all but some have suggested that the Israeli's should not use their history as an excuse for current behavior, and I am not defending the senseless killing they are doing, but what we can not ever afford to do is forget why they have the mindset they have and the history.

But yes, we should pull all military and financial support instantly and demand they stop killing innocents.

albeit 24 hrs old. I think the last time I actually did that was back in 2010-2011. Maybe when the "Arab Spring" was happening. I don't recall specifically when I just stopped wasting my time listening to her show. I think I just got tired of listening to her schtick, in general. I guess she's trying to target a certain generation, way younger than me.

Side note: I feel extremely liberated to have cut the "chord" with cable and Sat. I don't miss it at all. I do watch tv using my Roku device - I get all the news from all over the world, and more. And as for local news, I get all the local channels in the Bay Area, as well as PBS, PBS Plus & PBS World - all from a little rabbit ears antenna. I'm thinking about purchasing a "smart" tv, won't need the Roku or rabbit ears.

I strongly encourage all my friends to cut the chord with Comcast etc.. you'll love the money saved from all huge fees cable and sat companies sucker customers into giving them.

We have no say over who the GOP puts up as their candidate..

As far as Israel-Gaza, it's the ONLY channel to watch. It's a bit more balanced, and they show what they have, pro or anti Israel.

What do they expect that they can just take over the land and ultimately leave the Palestinians no where to go, to be, to call home? Its insane to not see the problem here.
best I can figure out the Israel people thinks they're gods chosen people. Hell I don't believe that crock for a second and there are a lot of us out here just like me. Do we not have a voice in all this sky daddy bullshit or what. lets get real if someone wants to believe in that shit let them do it, I don't care but when decision that affect other people are based on what they believe then that is wrong. Hell the bible that they all use as the word of god has been revised numerous times to the point whose saying what, king James or god. Come on people wake up to what is going on in the middle east and the problem is NOT the Palestinians the root of the problem is taking their land and essentially running them away from home. No one is going to do that to me with out a big f*ing huge fight I'll promise them that.

Fuck this Israel has a right bullshit, they are wrong, as wrong can be. IMHO

I'm not going to entertain any thoughts considering the rights of Israel at all. Not at this juncture in time anyway

can get away with a fundamental criticism of Israel's Gaza policy. Amy would be as hamstrung as anyone. As it is, she's more than pulling her weight on Democracy Now, and nobody is going to give her a larger audience than the one she already has for messing with Israel. There are just too many interlocking interests who wouldn't permit it, starting at the top of MSNBC.
