Morning Plum: GOP in doghouse among women, nonwhites, young

Morning Plum: GOP in doghouse among women, nonwhites, young

"SNIP......................

A new Washington Post/ABC News poll is getting a bit of a bounce this morning because it finds that a record high number of Americans disapprove of their own Member of Congress — reflecting, once again, just how poorly this Congress is viewed.

But the relative ratings of the Republican and Democratic parties are also noteworthy, particularly among key voter groups that GOP leaders have been hoping to improve their appeal among ever since the 2012 loss produced a round of soul searching about the party’s future. The toplines are that among registered voters, 38 percent view the GOP favorably, versus 60 percent who view it unfavorably; among Dems those numbers are 51-46.

Here’s a rundown among subgroups:

– Among women, the favorable/unfavorable numbers for the GOP are 33-62. For the Democratic Party they are flipped around, at 54-40.

– Among nonwhites, those numbers for the GOP are 25-70. For the Democratic Party they are flipped around at 68-26.

We practically have to run the table to keep the Senate.
Taking back the House will require a bigger landslide than any in living memory.

The Rapeuglicans are saying the things they are saying because they think they can't lose.
Could be the only way they CAN lose.

none of the gerrymandered districts has had a better than 50% turn-out of registered voters (since 2010) and more importantly, none of these districts has had a 30% turn-out of eligible voters. {I don't recall where I saw these figures, but they have stuck with me}

So a strong GOTV in these districts are likely to negate the gerrymandering effect.

narrative established so it won't seem so implausible when the hackable voting machines arrange for Repubs to take both houses of congress. The only thing that can prevent them is a landslide so overwhelming that they can't steal enough votes to change the outcome, which is what happened in 2012. I am convinced that Obama won more votes than the official tally shows, and that Demss won some of the close races that were called for Repubs.

Voting Republican is holding a gun to your own head. If they did the things their platform advocates, our country would be in ruins in six months.

Why ANYBODY votes for Republican clowns is beyond me - unless they are uber-wealthy.

Motivate them by all means necessary, it would not even be close.

While the GOP brand is shit with the American people, the "shockers" have never been more popular, or raked in so much money in the age of Obama. They're not interested in "reaching across the aisle", or getting anything done because it doesn't serve their main goal$. Of course, it doesn't help Democrats that our base constituencies, historically, don't turn up in midterms. They save their ammo for the big game. It's a ridiculous ethos, but it is what is.
