so, the new "Community Liaison" from the Border Patrol just showed up.

in an unmarked vehicle.

he has called like 3 times wanting to stop by and I have been pretty blunt (I thought!) that I was not really interested in meeting, especially not here.

I tried not to be too hostile but WTF? I have stated my position - I don't want them on the private property (I know I can't exclude during pursuit) and basically I find them, and the whole border policy of this country, to be a huge ass FAIL. Leave me alone, leave the fences alone, don't drive ATVs off road, let me know if they are using horses and leave gates the way they fucking find them.

Why do we need to have a chat? At my RESIDENCE.

He was so eager to invite me to their little "citizens' fair" next month, where we the people can see what kind of cool military stuff they have - we will even have the opportunity to fire some weapons and spike a vehicle!

I'm not old, but I remember before The Wall.

If I drive into Mexico now the U.S.A. takes a picture of me and my license plate.

If I return to the U.S.A. with no record of me having left, they pull me aside for further interrogation.

It didn't used to be like that.

I travel with a German friend who is in the database for an overstay (due to a car wreck) and I generally just pull over anyway, saying I know where to go.

now at the checkpoints 20 miles in, that is a different story. I refuse to be hassled by those twerps.

yes I am a citizen, can I go please. no you can't look in my vehicle, are you detaining me?

Yes

Are you?

We were waved through.

I saw a video of a guy who stopped at a checkpoint, and the first thing he did was ask the border guard if he was an American citizen. The guard started to say something, and the driver interrupted him, asking, "So where are you heading today?"

He was waved through.

I have seen vans drive for many miles on the rims, at least on dirt roads. On pavement it can cause roll-overs and other accidents resulting in injury and death, but hey they are "illegals" so who gives a shit, right?

Always in the back of one's mind is that one of these of these overpai, not too bright yahoos is gonna report anyone not 110% on board with getting them furriners over to law enforcement for such things aiding and abetting drug runners, coyotes, cartels, human traffickers, or refugees

I'm sure you're aware of the possibilities, but it'd make my skin crawl to have to talk to these guys since they seem to have a bead on your homestead from your past posts.

One would think they'd save their spiel for the local Teabaggerati meet or the next KKK cross burning at the border.

Otherwise I'd hope a visit would only be prompted by an overabundance of caution due to a report of some violent individual or gang crossing the border near your place.

Just kinda creepy and the offer to have a civilian playing with military toys for fun is a red flag to me.

Can you put up versions of 'POSTED' no trespass signs or paint the fence posts with a color that means the same thing?

For crying out loud! You being sick and all. Sorry you're getting that drama in the desert there.

I can't believe I and my complaints are the only reason they finally got around to hiring a local liaison to kiss the ranchers' asses.

I told him to get a land ownership map from the NRCS office and I do have one end posted, but need to get the back way in done too.

I am currently doing a job in St David. I have to go through a BP check point outside Tombstone. If I drive to Tucson, I have to go through a checkpoint outside Whetstone, or Sonoita. They have dogs, who apparently can smell if you are an illegal alien. No, the dogs are for drugs. A friend of mine had his truck "alerted" on by a dog at the Whetstone checkpoint. The BP took his truck to Naco to have it x-rayed. Nothing, so they let him go, hours later and many gallons of gas spent. BP should be at the border, not at checkpoints 50 miles away. Every week I read of another BPer who stole drugs or raped an illegal.

that would have been two checkpoints I think. Maybe tomorrow afternoon if it it is as hot as it was today. Ugh.

I would have been SO pissed if they took my vehicle and made me sit around. Remember when County Sup. Newman got nabbed with a roach?

And the other day I drove past the Dragoon Dispensary. Times are interesting.

and repeatedly ask where the war trophy illegal alien tanks are.
Ask why they need an air force when the people crossing the border make a bee line to the first BPer the instant they see one and peacefully surrender.

Or my favorite question, Why do police who always out number the bad guys by over one hundred to one need expensive automatic weapons? A dozen 30-30 lever action deer rifles would work as well and be cheaper.
