having said that, turns out John was a real misogynist.

Johnny Carson was a real prick misogynist as well, so it was partly the times and the way they were raised and the culture, but I can on one hand praise Lennon for what made him great, and as a musician I surely do that (not to mention his work for peace) while simultaneously reminding people not to treat Women the way he did.

He could be devastating cruel. The only thing I can say is you can authentically preach light, if you can face you own darkness. John did not spare himself.

After that he became extremely apologetic for his past behavior and was a staunch feminist the rest of his life.

I am sure I read that he moved to Los Angeles for a while without her and was still the misogynist he always had been.

Pretty sure about that, but not positive.

whatever...what matters now is we dont do what he did in that respect, we respect Women as equals and so on

He at least wrote songs that seemed to be supportive of feminist ideals from the time he got together with Yoko onwards.

of Yoko, on national television...

Again, I am a big fan....Look, I am the guy that bought every Beatles album on the day it was released, went home and air drummed every song and to this day know almost every lyric of every song.

I love John and who he was, but when I became aware of his issues I thought it correct to always note them so others wouldnt make similar mistakes.

Now the good thing with him is that publicly he never showed this side of him so he isnt an example for others like PUNKS like Ted Nugent, for example.

But the lyrics of Imagine can stand apart from whatever John may have been like in his personal life.
