Support Tom Poetter -- challenging John Boehner in Ohio's 8th District.

Miami University of Ohio professor Tom Poetter announced this week that he will challenge Speaker John A. Boehner in Ohio’s 8th District, marking the first Democrat to try to oust the top House Republican this cycle.

Poetter, an education professor at Miami University, has also directed the university’s Partnership Office, which helps the university reach out to the surrounding community.

But Poetter faces an uphill battle to oust Boehner in the 8th District, which voted for GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney with 62 percent in 2012. Boehner ran unopposed last cycle, but in 2010, he defeated his Democratic opponent by a 36-point margin.

Please donate and support his candidacy. We need to kick Boehner out of Congress. He does absolutely no good for anyone.

From his website:

I’m running for Congress to bring leadership back to this district. John Boehner has held the office for twelve consecutive terms (twenty-four years!) with little to no impact on the district except to use one of the highest positions in the land to hold the country hostage in October 2013 for sixteen days. The government shutdown–which The Speaker could have avoided by taking an early, clean vote on the budget–cost taxpayers $24 billion, threatened our national and economic security, and proved how broken the politics of Washington are today. Citizens lose the most with the status quo, and many feel dissatisfied with the current situation and want a change that will work for them. I intend to govern in the House of Representatives by collaborating, listening, building consensus, compromising, and acting in the best interest of all citizens and not just the special interests of the 1%, the rich, the powerful, and fringe elements.

I intend to represent each citizen of our great district with respect, care, and compassion, not with obstructionism and grandstanding.

coming close to booting Boehner. The district is gerrymandered blood red, but people are in more of a 'throw out all the bums and start over' mood than I've seen in decades. Still, it's a seriously uphill fight, and he really could have used some national support. The national Dem groups should never have abandoned Dean's goal of trying hard in every district in every state.
