Phil Burress: my hunting license isn't valid out of state, so neither is marriage equality

http://www.goodasyou.org/good_as_you/2014/08/his-ohio-hunting-license-isnt-valid-in-ny-so-you-cant-have-fifty-state-marriage-recognition.html

Phil Burress of Citizens for Community Values (I haven't heard of them either) says because he can't hunt with his Ohio license in any other place but Ohio, LGBT people shouldn't be able to get married.

Or something!

My fishing license is a few months out of date. Does that mean I can't get married?

guess he doesn't exist if he decides to come here.

(And really, I think a BC is a better analogy for a marriage license: states should have to recognize documents that certify a condition (BC, ML), but not be obligated to recognize documents that authorize an activity (hunting, fishing, driver's license)...

to universally recognize each other's. I'm not sure they're required to do so, however (at least, I've never been able to find it)...

I'm going to a wedding in CT this fall. Does that mean I won't be able to rent a car when I get there? I mean my Driver's license won't be recognized. My spouse is staying at home because the kids have school, does that mean I will be single for the week?

But maybe I wasn't kidding about the marriage thing. Tonight my spouse hid my wine bottle behind the milk. Blasphemy I tell ya.

Marriage is a public act or record. A hunting license is like a ticket to an amusement park.
