U.S. Intel Agencies Worried Snowden’s Celebrity Status Inspiring Other Leakers

In the 14 months since he went public, Edward Snowden‘s become a cult celebrity of sorts for privacy advocates. And apparently, U.S. intelligence agencies are worried this elevated status people give him now is inspiring other government workers to leak national intelligence information so they can get a taste of it.

This comes from a new report by CNN’s Evan Perez, on the heels of the revelation that there is almost certainly another leaker out there.

Congressman Adam Schiff, a Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said, “The degree that people have been lionizing Snowden, it encourages people to make a name for themselves by leaking.”

He said in a number of intelligence briefings, there’s been a real worry about a “copycat phenomenon” going on and that people will be inspired by what Snowden did to try and leak information themselves.

And Snowden showed just how close Carlyle Group is to knowing everything We the People aren't supposed to.

Hey, Schiff! Get a clue: What motivates leakers isn't fame or fortune. It's patriotism.

is obvious. They have plenty to hide and they fear patriots, people they apparently despise, will keep on blowing the whistle on their wrong doing. The way to stop that is to stop committing crimes against the American people.

If they really think this is why another Whistle Blower has come forward, they are way less intelligent than even I gave them credit for. So what motivated all the others?

They just don't want leakers--that's the important thing.
