Goofus will casually bet you the extra $10,000 in his back pocket that he is just like normal working Americans...

You are correct!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highlights_for_Children

Goofus & Gallant
First appearing in Highlights in 1948, Goofus & Gallant is a cartoon feature created by Garry Cleveland Myers and drawn by Anni Matsick. The strip features two contrasting boys, Goofus and Gallant. In each cartoon, it is shown how each boy would respond to the same situation. Goofus chooses an irresponsible path, while Gallant is kinder. Often the panels would provide description, such as on a school bus: Goofus hogs his seat - Gallant makes space for someone else to sit down. Sometimes the situations would showing the boys talking, such as phone courtesy when parents are away: Goofus: "Someone called but I forgot their name." Gallant: "Someone called for you. I wrote down their name and number". Goofus and Gallant's primary function is to teach children basic social skills. Originally drawn in black and white, Goofus and Gallant changed to colored pencils in 1994 and later changed to colored computer graphics in December 2005.

Thanks for the correction!

Goofus is a silver-spoon bastard who plays dirty and drinks before games.

Gallant got mad style with that ABA ball.

remainds me of Church Lady shaming parishioners about their naughty parts being all engorged and tingling.
Same general principal, the dirty sluts.

.... should become an adult as the cartoon progresses, and Galahad should remain a child.

Tom Tomorrow probably thought of that but decided it was too much for one cartoon. Don't want to muddy the message, y'know.

I have. I was getting new tires on my car at Firestone. All they had in the waiting room were women magazines and Highlights so I chose Highlights. In one of the Goofus Versus Gallant cartoons Gallant (about respecting privacy) was stuck in the 1950s, preventing a friend from opening up a girl's diary, complete with giant heart and a lock on the cover. Meanwhile, Goofus was depicted as having successfully hacked a friend's email account.

Say whatever you want about them, but Goofus got mad skillz.
