Sometimes it is good to just stop, take a deep breath, look up and marvel at the world and beyond. Let the super moon light just kind of wash over you while you do a little dance and sing a little song. Trust me - it's good for the spirit and the soul.

(29,876 posts)This song brings back memories of my 'coming out' at the grand age of 17 in Toledo, Ohio. The clubs were most accommodating for we newbies at that time.

(26,295 posts)Between worrying about deer and/or drunks, it was a very stressful drive. But as soon as I got home, I stood in the yard and just gazed at the moon. My stress disappeared.

(26,295 posts)Our thunderstorms are forecast for tomorrow night. We need the rain, so I'll wash my car, just for some insurance.

An alternative "Moon Song" of mine from a few years (OK, more than a few) back. Just a sample: http://www.rumbleman.com/files/RabbitMoonSample.mp3

(26,295 posts)This super moon has turned our of my cats into a werecat. Very weird and aggressive behavior that I hope eases up before I go to bed. Otherwise, that ratatioulle I made today might be MY last supper!

(24,776 posts)but we noticed that last night. Big moon, too bright to see Perseids.
On the other hand, we can't stay up late enough anymore to see the meteor showers!

(8,434 posts)And start in the dark, so I always look forward to the perseids.
Oh well, peak isn't until Wed morning and by then the moonset might have changed enough to catch a few of the brighter meteors.

(16,402 posts)[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]Appropriately, I finish work right around midnight.
I'll have this favorite moon-dancing song in my head when I step outside to see her:
Weave a wish (or prayer or spell) tonight, and dance and sing under the beauteous moon to spread it far and wide.

(26,295 posts)I'm listening to everything that's been linked - I'm glad I'm not working, tomorrow because I'm having too much fun to go to bed!
And I think positive vibes sent out over moon beams are the most effective.

(53,339 posts)Lots of funny stuff, including the work he put into modifying cartoons and graphics to tailor them to us. Sometimes he'd get miffed and storm off for a bit when we didn't reply, and I couldn't blame him for that after all the trouble he went to for us.
For us, who got so many laughs from MFM, it was a real treat when we could make him laugh. My personal fave was when we had a discussion about glass-bottomed boats and MFM chimed in to say he'd want one with a glass-bottomed seat so he could moon snorkelers and such.
I saw that as soon as he posted, and an old song came to mind, but I thought I'd never come up with thr right rhyme to insert for him. And then it hit me, and I replied:
When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, thaaaat's MFM's dory.
That cracked him up--and made my day.
And I guess this really isn't OT for this thread, after all...

(40,416 posts)As a visual amateur astronomer, I must say that I despise full moons, especially when they coincide with meteor showers, but basically any clear night.
Full moons suck! One cannot even get a good view of the moon during a full moon. There's no shadows to provide contrast. No depth to images!
Fuck full moons.
