One question I do have is pointing a gun is considered a provocation. How can LEOs point their guns directly at protesters? It seems like it would violate training and procedure.

What would help is to get some basic info that is NOT showing up here. Are police confrontations like this increasing over time or not? Are these confrontations more deadly over time or not? Is there an even greater increase in police-black confrontations over time? Does anyone have any data? We can (and should) speculate on the increasingly militarization of police, but we need something to go on.
