Odds on ALEC lasting out the year? What'll the new group be called?

News today that the Gates foundation is the latest big name to withdraw from involvement with ALEC. Too much light being cast in that dark corner, so ALEC will close up shop in the near future is my opinion. However, I don't for one second believe that the players involved will just lose interest in the agenda that ALEC promoted, and they'll have something new to replace it (if they haven't already).

You're right; these robber barons won't give up easily, and if ALEC has to fold, they'll be up and running under another nom de corruption before the ink is dry on the dissolution papers for ALEC.

and I think/hope it is significant and the Tipping Point as corporations and "leaders" begin to be subject to the new realities of social media. They watch their Twitter feeds very carefully and one Twitterer can contact a lot of like-minded folk in a matter of minutes. And all answer to individual shareholders...rich, but real people mostly.

Someone help me out here, but I vaguely recall the old saying that everyone was at least 6 contacts away from someone in power. It's just now we have the ability to take advantage of that. That and media/video/audio/internet quick replay ... harder to boldfaced lie than it used to be.

Rush may have listeners, but he's been mortally wounded and will no longer enjoy mastership of the Republican Party, at least publically. The same is true for mega advertisers for ALEC. Funding won't end, but it will be scrutinized more closely. That's success.

Now, on to the SCOTUS ... how do we get a couple to retire sooner rather than later???
