Hawthorne Police shot Michael Nida in the back 5 times for an assault rifle for running away. The DA refused to press charges against the officer and the tax payers of Hawthorne, CA were forced to dole out $4.5 million to the family.

that my experience is priviledged, and it is not what a struggling woman of color would face.
I was a single mother for 12 years, BUT I was a single mom who had a college degree paid in full by her parents. (Thank you mom&dad!)
I had a job paying a GS 5 salary to start. Reality is much different for those without the benefits I had... One of those benefits was being born to parents who had the means to pay for my college education, another was undoubtably being born into a middle class family, and finally I was caucasian. In America being born white in 1957 was a HUGE step up.

Christopher Roupe shot opening his door. The police said he had a gun, but no gun was found. Family claims he had a Wi controller. The case itself has dropped into a black hole, and reporters are not asking the most fundamental question - what did Roupe have in his hand. Also he is perfectly within his rights to hold a weapon in his hand when he opens the door. It sounds like the officer already had her weapon drawn before he even opened the door, and it was an immediate shoot with no warning. Grand jury also no billed.

That movie was given mixed to negative reviews per Wikipedia but I thought it was worthy of viewing if for no other reason than to take a step outside of your skin.

I suppose it's not an easy movie to watch whether you're black or white for different reasons.
