My purpose in explaining the UI system is to share my knowledge about a very complex system. Most claimants need to know some things about how such a system operates. Prior knowledge can help a person understand what is going on and why. Most UI reps do not have time to explain what I am sharing and am about to share. If it helps anyone through the anxiety of filing for unemployment I will have served my purpose. If it helps anyone on a claim and keeps them from going afoul of the system I will also have served my purpose. Getting money you are entitled to is an issue. What I am sharing is somewhat general. One thing I always tell people is always ask your local authority what is going on if you do not understand. I am giving everyone this information so that they will have a better idea of what questions they might need to ask.
American citizens using these systems have a right to know what it going on. I have always believed that. Even though I have been retired for some time, the basics still have not changed from what I can tell. There is no sense for me to keep something to myself that might help. I do not know ALL the answers, but I had been deep in that system for a very long time.

As a Canadian,I had assumed that UI was pretty much a given in many loss of employment circumstances...
Thank you for knowledge of how the system operates in order to help others to perhaps avoid pitfalls to obtain financial help when they are most vulnerable.
Well done,
