(101 posts)While 2 weeks of coverage is rare and certainly opened a national conversation of modern race relations between the police and the black community (and the militarization of the police), the corporate media also falsely depicted the real situation on the ground, exaggerating and exploiting the rare instances of violence (by outside agitators) for ratings, leaving the casual viewer the false impression that there were nightly "riots" and so on. That's all much of white America needs to hear to write the whole situation off, from the Brown shooting to the militarized police force terrorizing the town.

(10,751 posts)...the situation there has been widely represented as night after night of rioting and looting. It has the effect of handily erasing what the demonstrators are trying to communicate.
Our media (most of them anyway) ought to be ashamed. Ought to be ... but aren't, and won't be. They're too well-paid, and they love love love being invited to the "right" cocktail parties.

The good news is, there were no arrests last night. The shit disturbers have left, so the national media lost interest.

(5,644 posts)I don't think a news media can/should talk about one thing 24/7 if there are other issues going on in the world that concerns us, as much as I would like to hear more about Ferguson.

(18,497 posts)A media swarm to report that once again today nothing much is really happening right now?
I still see daily updates, just not the saturation. And there is no call for saturation at this point.
Until the Grand jury rules ion the case, anyway.
And with its racial and gender makeup, I think we know how that is going to go.
