What is Special Prosecutor Corey Waiting For Now? No Arrest Warrant - No Manhunt....

A killer is now on the loose with NO ONE vouching for his whereabouts.

George Zimmerman could still walk into any airport TODAY and, assuming he has a passport (and with a Peruvian mother, I'll bet he does) buy a ticket to anywhere.

It sure looks to this poster that politics are still trumping justice. See:

But she might be waiting on the autopsy report, enhanced audio of the 911 calls, text records from Martin's phone...just general 'stuff' she has to get in order.

If he were inclined to leave, you'd think he would have done it by now, anyway...so I don't think time is uber critical. She's still making her decision.

Its all over the place...but not sure what that has to do with the prosecutor's timeline.

AFAIK, he's presently not obligated to give his location to anybody...it may be dumb not to...but he isn't legally obligated.

because she said she will not convene a Grand Jury. Which means the maximum he can be charged with is Manslaughter. And we all know she would never do this without reviewing the evidence because that would mean this was a political decision...

...but I believe the only thing off the table is Murder 1. Murder 2 and 3 are still on the table, since they are not capital crimes.

And I know alot of people were pissed about it yesterday; but, there was absolutely no chance ever that Zimmerman would be successfully prosecuted for Murder 1.

So really, nothing is off of the table.

Actually, if I were a prosecutor inclined to not charge, I would march right up to the grand jury, and roll the dice that they say no-bill...would give me cover. So I don't think the lack of a grand jury means much.

BTW, a couple of days ago, I looked up the Florida law. They have tough sentencing, and a tough 85% sentence served rule. Manslaughter averages 17 years in prison, for first time offenders.

So I'm passing along what I heard, that Man 1 was the highest charge they could bring without a GJ. However she could be wrong about that. Plus the post below says she could convene a different GJ..

Truth is, at this point I'd be happy if they just fucking arrested the guy.

that doesn't mean she would not go to another Grand Jury in the future
maybe she knew she would not be ready today
she may be looking into the actions others including police and prosecutors that could also be charged

It seems likely to me that the prosecuter has all the evidence there is. If that is true, why else would the prosecuter not have acted by now?

her case has been pretty trashed by the local PD's antics. She is under tremendous pressure to bring a case but faces SIGNIFICANT issues -- issues that may make it impossible for her to make the case stick. She has to get it as airtight as the evidence will allow before pressing charges. THAT is what she is waiting for.

If the colors were reversed, the shooter would have been in jail long ago and the prosecutor could build a case knowing that the subject was secured.

Now, its a three-ring circus, and its only going to get worse.

I didn't think Florida could look worse than it did after the Casey Anthony debacle, but this one could do it.

Since it looks like he's going completely off the deep-end... arresting him before he causes harm to himself, or anymore others, might be the prudent thing to do.

I'm guessing he thought Daddy took care of it. I'm now almost sure the SA was negotiating with his lawyers and he didn't like the fact he would be charged.

He's real dangerous because the right wing has made a martyr out of him. And now he believes it himself. His calling Sean Hannity gives you all the info you need to know. I'm afraid he doesn't think he should have to turn himself in. If they go looking for him, he could have another Stand Your Ground moment.

Once an arrest warrant is issued, it may take a SWAT Team to dig him out.

The man is a walking ad for the repeal of Must-Issue Concealed Weapons laws. No way an investigator reads his background and issues him a permit.
