Arkansas fires Petrino. Breaking news.

Bobby Petrino is out at Arkansas.

ESPN.com's Joe Schad is reporting that Razorbacks athletic director Jeff Long will address the media at 7:15 CT time tonight, at which point he is expected to announce that Petrino is no longer the head football coach.

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available. In the meantime, here were my thoughts on the matter from Saturday morning.

Forget about wife and family.
Sure, that's important to many of us.

But why would a guy with even a couple of neurons to rub together jeopardize a multimillion dollar a year job for a piece of tail?
jeez

A few tears ago we hired a coach at Alabama who was caught drunk and just whoopin' it up in a titty bar in Pensacola and got fired before he even coached a game.
Maybe it's the 'jock mentality'.
I dunno.

4. I can't say I'm in favor of firing people for cheating. If we did that, there'd be no GOPers in gov

I'd love to fire the asses of all cheating GOPers. That'd give me a thrill.

On another note, I'm always amazed at how many powerful men risk their high-powered careers, their marriages, and the respect and closeness to their children, by choosing to give their sex lives a workout with someone who isn't their spouse.

I understand the power of sexual attraction. Anyone, everyone, is attracted to others. So what? The possibility of getting away with it and no one finding out, is just never a smart consideration in these things, and clearly, these powerful, rich, married men make these decisions BEFORE they are actually physically aroused, as it's obvious they plan them in advance (where to meet, etc.), so they must actually reason out in advance how likely they will be to get found out, and plan accordingly. No excuse that they were actually hard and unable to stop. They got there first, without arousal.

Lunacy, really.
