I would guess yeah it probably is.

that the average white or black person has that many friends.

I'm white, and I've got one friend I see on a daily basis, three more that I see about once every year or two, and a couple I know online that I've never met in person. To get north of even a dozen, I'd have to count friends I haven't seen or talked to in 10-20 years.

(Ok, I just reread the posting, and they were actually 'normalizing' to 100 friends total. I knew I was a bit of an introvert, but sheesh.)

But 3 of my neighbors whom I am friendly with are black, I have two Latino neighbors I am friendly with (cookouts, walk each others dogs...). In fact, aside from my daughter's school mates and play dates, my neighbors are about the only people I interact with. I don't work, go to church, or have that many friends. I have a very diverse group of associates, but nowhere near 100 people and they are of every shade of the rainbow and cultural ethnicity.
