The United States military has conducted airstrikes on ISIS targets and airdropped humanitarian aid

CNN Breaking News Email:

"The United States military has conducted airstrikes on ISIS targets and airdropped humanitarian aid to the besieged residents in the Iraqi town of Amerli, the Pentagon says.

Australia, France and the UK also participated in the aid drop.

ISIS fighters have besieged the town of Amerli, 70 miles north of Baquba, since the Sunni extremists swept into Iraq from Syria in mid-June. Its 17,400 residents are enduring harsh living conditions with severe food and water shortages, and are without power."

declared a humanitarian tragedy there a little while back. I thought the Pentagon said it wasn't dire enough for airdrops, but seems to have been a fakeout, possibly, or something changed their minds.
