I'm working in my "Man Cave" with Power Tools

just thought you all should know

Not sure if having the internet connection out here was such a good idea now that I read all these post concerning misogynist comments. Being old, it seems to me, everyone (including women/misandry) has a little bit - or A LOT of this in them and at different points in their life struggle with it in a lesser and at times greater degree.

Of course institutionalized misogyny or misandry is just plain wrong - and we all should work to see its end in our life time.

But there is always going to be the little giggle/rude joke told between like gender friends that will be the most pervasive and perhaps the last bastion of misogyny / misandry. It most likely will wither away of its own accord as a newer generation of well informed youth replaces us "Old Farts" in the coming decades and years.

What would be most fascinating would be watching graduate anthropologist stumble across these threads stored in some form of digital archive a couple of 100 years from now, scratching their head in disbelief thing - "Gee were people really like that?

But anyway less I digress - my "Power Tools Await" me

I kid. I'm scared of power tools, but I hope you are doing something fun with yours.

and the whole "Man Cave" thing doesn't bother her either.

she thinks it is a much better use of my time rather then sitting at the 19th Hole or some Dive-Bar swilling beers lusting after the waitress

My '56 Topps baseball and football, His family portraits, OUR Texas framed art, unique booze bottles, OUR chosen together memories on the walls. btw, I brought more power tools to this marriage than he did, but he uses them more often... what's that mean? He's a vintage '55 and I'm a '63. Am I old enough to have an opinion? What is an example of, 'institutionalized misandry'? lol, DU spell check doesn't even recognize the word, misandry.

How about we stop devaluing our fellow liberal women and their experiences in their day-to-day lives on a supposedly progressive site? Can we start there?

Future anthropologists will indeed be scratching their heads.

Once upon a time when I was single - the Yuba County Family Support Division choose to ignore the Yuba County Superior Court Judge's order granting me sole physical and legal custody of my sons because don't you know a man doesn't raise children alone

Instead they garnished my wages, emptied my bank accounts, harassed my employer - for 2 full years Even after submitting irrefutable evidence to the Welfare Fraud Investigator who told me "To mind my own business". Countless trips into county offices where female clerks would refer to me "As Just Another Bum Trying to get out of me obligations"

Until I notified the State Attorney General

At which point they had to return ALL the money to me - that is Institutionalized Misandry

Not to mention the hardship it placed on my children

But No - I do not think the word "Misandry" is going away any time soon

but that's not institutionalized misandry. It's yours and others experiences, but that doesn't qualify as institutionalized. Your money was returned to you, that's justice in your case. You were made whole in the court's decision.

The State Attorney General stepped in a ordered an audit of the case. Even then Yuba County didn't notify me nor release the wage garnishment. Actually I think I had opened a new bank account and they seized those funds too - about 2 weeks before Christmas even.

Nope - they were forced by the State Attorney General's office to prosecute the children's mother for Welfare Fraud (she was living down in So Cal at the time) and then after exhausting all other possible avenues, returned the money they had been collecting for 2 years about 6 months later.

Not to mention they ignored the Judge's custody orders from day 1

But hey - 1 boy is married with a wonderful little boy now 3 yrs old and a nice home in the town we used to live in. Another, after trying it his own way will be starting college in Sept, to pursue a career following in my footsteps, and the 3rd is in his room playing those obnoxious video games again - (wish he would play football - I just am so envious of those football families on Friday night)

My room looks pretty much like a cave: it's filled with books and my "gear" and all the little things that define my life. Due to disability/illness, I've had to spend a great deal of time in there, engaged in solitary activities. I don't invite anyone in there - definitely not guys! And it's pretty dark because glare hurts my eyes.

So wouldn't that be a "girl cave"? Am I the only one with a "girl cave"?
