Charles Koch Complains He And His Brother Are 'In Front Of The Firing Squad'by Igor Bobic at the Huffington Post

"SNIP........................
It isn't easy being a politically connected billionaire. At a private political strategy summit earlier this year, Charles Koch lamented that he and his brother David were being unfairly persecuted for their fight against liberalism and socialism.
According to audio of the June 16 event that was obtained by The Undercurrent and shared exclusively with The Huffington Post on Wednesday, the billionaire oil industrialist claimed he and his brother were "put squarely in front of the firing squad."
The Koch brothers have funneled millions of dollars to Republican and tea party groups, and GOP politicians frequently pay homage to the Kochs' electoral network. In an April op-ed for The Wall Street Journal, Charles Koch insisted that all of this political money was actually serving as a crusade against corruption.
.........
The Kochs don't have a monopoly on the billionaire blues. Venture capitalist Tom Perkins penned a letter to WSJ earlier this year, titled "Progressive Kristallnacht Coming?", in which he compared liberals' treatment of the "one percent" to Nazi Germany's treatment of Jews.

(711 posts)....is that they(the 1%) feel just as victimized by our current economic model as the lower 99% or 90% or what have you. my conclusion is that in order to remedy everyone's complaints simultaneously northern European style social-capitalism should be immediately implemented.

(64,933 posts)If they were advocated higher taxes on the wealthiest of the wealthy and were supporting candidates like Bernie Sanders, but who are they backing? They back candidates who support massive tax cuts, massive cuts to public programs, abolishment of Unions, and the personhood of Corporations.
And who are they being persecuted by?? I very rarely see anything on any of the news organization about them. The only place I see anything negative about them is here.
Edited to add: I do agree we need to go more towards a socialist society as many European nations have done, and also one that Bernie Sanders wants to move this country towards. But the Koch brothers and many of their ilk will fight tooth and nail against.

http://www.wikihow.com/Perform-an-Intervention
If someone you love is struggling with alcohol, drug addiction, compulsive gambling or other destructive behaviors, staging an intervention might be the best way to help the person get better. People with serious addictive behaviors are often in denial that they have a problem. When heart to heart talks and other attempts to help prove ineffective, you can join forces with friends, families and a professional interventionist to confront the person with the truth and a detailed plan of action.
(snip)
Consider creating a list of actions and behavioral patterns that will no longer be tolerated. Next to each activity, write what your action will be if the person continues these behaviors.
(snip)
Anticipate the persons reactions and have responses ready. If the person reacts defensively or with anger, everyone should be prepared to handle it without disrupting the intervention.
His feelings of persecution and "defensive" behavior is a natural reaction to the macro intervention now taking place.

at least that would be a start.

Douchebags.
And by the way, Koch babies, when the one percent have ALL of their wealth stripped from them and they are forced to live in ghettos without any income, then you can talk. Until then, SHUT THE FUCK UP RIGHT FUCKING NOW, you arrogant assholes.

They're wanting to lead a political revolution like Martin Luther King, only they forgot the part where you have to step up and face the public.

And "liberalism and socialism" have actual definitions, which are not your personal definitions of them, which are so expansive that they boil down to "anything that impedes the world from becoming 'Thunderdome'".

You and your boys can still have a palace each, Cuban cigars, expensive scotch, all the hookers you want. Give up something like 30% of the insane wealth (like you'd even notice) and still live like kings. They would be running things still today if they would have listened to someone like that.

(10,745 posts)Also, "Progressive Kristallnacht", my ass. The Nazis persecuted the progressives in Germany! And to compare criticism of corporatism to the Holocaust isn't just fucking inane, it's highly offensive to the 15 million people who were murdered under Hitler's regime. (8,964 posts)Time was when the Kochs were certain that they could maintain their anonymity while pulling out all the stops in an effort to buy and control the political landscape. Nice try on their part, but it appears their cover has been blown and more people are becoming aware of what they're all about. The Kochs are sensitive to criticism? Too bad, it's all part and parcel of what they've "bought"
