http://www.gaystarnews.com/article/homophobic-uganda-parliament-speaker-dropped-london-business-forum040914The speaker of the Ugandan parliament Rebecca Kadaga has been cut from a business forum in London due to her homophobic views.
She was meant to speak later this month at the fourth Ugandan Investment Forum, which promotes the African country as a favored investment destination. Other speakers include the vice president and several ministers and business leaders.
Kadaga vowed to pass the now defunct Anti-Homosexuality Act in 2012, which would have made gay sex punishable by death or life imprisonment, and last month she re-tabled the bill.
Edwin Sesange, director of African gay rights organization Out and Proud Diamond Group, said 'It is very clear that the Uganda anti-gay law deters investments in Uganda. Therefore, it was a wrong decision to use the champion of the Anti-Homosexuality Act to attract foreign investments. We dont (sic) oppose investments to Uganda however we highlight the effects of the anti-gay laws.
