Democrats Call Out The Koch Brothers For Trying To Buy The Senate
By: Jason Easley

Democrats are fighting back against a Koch attempt to buy the Senate with a million dollar ad buy.

The Koch brothers backed group Americans for Prosperity announced a seven figure ad buy targeting nine Democratic senators.

DSCC National Press Secretary Justin Barasky reacted to the Koch brothers massive new ad buy, “Just last week news broke of multiple Republican candidates who were caught on tape privately admitting their allegiance to the Koch brothers. It’s clear now more than ever that GOP Senate candidates are counting on the Kochs to continue pouring millions into attack ads on their behalf. Unfortunately for Tom Cotton, Thom Tillis, Cory Gardner, Dan Sullivan and others, even red state voters don’t want to elect candidates who would gut Medicare and Social Security, oppose a minimum wage increase, and restrict women’s access to common forms of birth control. Democrats will continue to fight back against the Koch brothers agenda that’s good for millionaires and bad for the middle class by running smarter, better campaigns and always putting their states first.”

The Koch brothers are blatantly trying to buy the Senate, and their agenda is clear. Republican Senate candidates have been under performing nationwide so it isn’t surprising that their Koch daddies would come running to the rescue with a September surprise.

The Koch agenda is to only help the wealthy. The evidence is in. The Kochs are trying to carpet bomb the airways in order to buy themselves a Senate majority. It didn’t work in 2010 and 2012, but it up to Democrats to make sure that the Koch brothers are wasting their money in 2014.

5. Merkley's ads are pretty good

The ads may go over the heads of some low-information voters ("D-uh who are the Coke Brothers? Is that like the Flying Burrito Brothers? Burritos! Mmmmmm.&quot , but there's a couple of months yet for people to tune in to the campaign and figure out that all those "Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce" ads aren't being filmed or funded in the Beaver State.

I am once again so glad that Merkley ousted Gordon "Pondkiller" Smith in 2008. If Smith had survived that election, he would have been Senator for life. I think Merkley will do okay for his re-election. Particularly so if Oregonians VOTE.

8. I remember when Smith thought that Sarah Palin was a governor of CALIFORNIA in the debates...

... he had with Merkley. And I was moving to Oregon from California right after that election. So even though I couldn't vote for Merkley then, that insult to my intelligence was an added incentive for me to donate to his campaign that year.

6. You can tell Reid is being effective

Just listen to all the squawking coming from the right about how mean Reid is being, or how ineffectual his efforts are (then why draw attention to them?), and they've even forced David Koch himself to pop up and whine about how a wealthy white bigot just can't get a break in America.

of the speakers introduced us to an app for your smart phone called Buycott that you can download and use to scan bar codes on products that trace back the product to its origin. The speaker recommended it because it traces products back to Koch Industries if that's where they originated from. I haven't tried it because I have to upgrade my phone, but it sounds interesting.
