General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI'm quickly losing my confidence in this State Attorney.
She's obviously enjoying her time in front of the cameras. I'm worried that the Murder Two charge may be a Hail Mary to enhance her career. She might screw this one up.

(40,220 posts)She doesn't need to be grim and scowl. From everything I have read, she is very hard nose and tough.

(12,939 posts)I lived in that area. She's into victims' rights.
I thought she was as professional as can be and I don't suspect her motives just because she's a Repuglican.

(23,720 posts)I was giving her the benefit of the doubt because there may be an event after the conference, but then I listened to her introduce her two assistant attorneys.

Some people just routinely overdress, yanno?

(28,349 posts)I hate announcements like these - too much politics, & bringing God into it, & also maybe dreams of a future job as a Fox analyst. Ok, ok, I'm jaded.
She's talking a lot for saying so little.
I suppose not everyone can be as dedicated as Fitzgerald.

(2,902 posts)She supposedly thinks he's a murderer. She comes off as a political animal, way too upbeat and complimentary.

(11,366 posts)She sounds extremely professional and informative to me.
She got a little snarky after being asked the same question over and over (what made her decide on 2nd degree murder), but I would, too, if I had repeatedly said I couldn't address that issue, yet.

(15,996 posts)We don't know how much info she's got that we haven't seen or heard yet. What seems like a hail mary to us may in reality be closer to a slam dunk.

(41,991 posts)She is good in front of the camera. That isn't a bad thing. Anyone who can think and be clear and concise when facing this kind of craziness is to be admired. She's showing some emotion but at an absolutely appropriate level.
Like her a lot thus far.

Even after conviction.
We're a bad country - why?
Don't you remember THE ZIMMERMAN STORY? So recent blah blah.
RandySF
(59,221 posts)But I hav a bad feeling that the prosecutor is star-struck by the media attention and is going to the hardest charge to get a conviction on.
bluestate10
(10,942 posts)She has tried cases that got lots of publicity before. I will let the case play out. Trayon Martin's parents should see his killer tried and Zimmerman should get his day in court to defend his actions. Zimmerman's new attorney seemed to have left open the possibility of pleaing for a lesser charge.
Blue_In_AK
(46,436 posts)to leave open the lesser included offense of manslaughter. If she can't prove enough for a second-degree murder conviction, she most surely can prove enough for manslaughter. Prosecutors always bring the most serious charge they can, even if they're not sure they can convict.
"Lesser included" is the name of the game.
edit: After reading this thread, did I miss the point? People are concerned for how she was dressed? Hmm ... I thought the OP had to do with the charge. Silly me.

(22,541 posts)She is a seasoned state prosecutor, of course she's comfortable in front of a camera. What? Did you expect her to mumble and stutter? She's experienced. Attorneys don't do what they do because they hate being in front of a crowd or in front of a microphone or in front of the press. Some of them DID hate it but love justice so much that they overcame it. You'd better be thanking god or your lucky stars or your tennis shoes that she's enjoying her job because she HAS to in order to do it right. Do you have any idea how many frickin hours they put in during a week? I do.
Think about it.
