Al-Qaeda suspects were brought to the 'point of death' during 'real torture' by CIA

At least two al-Qaeda suspects were brought to the “point of death” during “real torture” by CIA officials following the 9/11 attacks, a security source has claimed.
..........

“They weren’t just pouring water over their heads or over a cloth,” the source told The Daily Telegraph.

They were holding them under water until the point of death, with a doctor present to make sure they did not go too far. This was real torture.”

The US Senate is planning to publish a 3,600-page document – dubbed the Torture Report – spelling out what happened to al-Qaeda suspects in US custody. Another source said the report would “deeply shock” people in the US.

So we lost the moral high ground, significantly increased the risk of American soldiers and civilians being tortured in retaliation, lost the support of the world in the war on terror (along with the 2003 Iraq War), and it didn't even get us anything. Nothing but garbage intelligence from people willing to say anything to make the torture stop. The best intelligence was gathered by traditional, non-enhanced, interrogations.

Edit: Oh, and handed the enemy a PR and recruitment bonanza they can constantly point to to show that we're really the bad guys. Absolutely idiotic policy.

Could these have been induced torture such as simulated drownings? We need a full complete honest accounting of the war crimes the bush cabal engaged in and still being covered up today under Obama

Why has no one gone to prison for the rest of their life for what was ordered done? Is this really the kind of country we have become, one that allows people who did these things to walk free among us?
