Has anyone here ever listened to Michael Savage?

I was listening to a bit of his program while my wife was grocery shopping today and it was a relentless attack on President Obama. He was wild-eyed that Obama said he was going to deal with the immigration problem by "executive action".

He said that executive actions were meant to clarify existing laws, not to create new ones. He gave an example of Harry Truman vs Youngstown Steel in 1952. The Supreme Court ruled that Harry Truman exceeded his authority in trying to nationalize the steel industry.

He called the President a "dictator" amongst other things. He almost called for outright rebellion.

I wondered where all this anger was at when Bush was signing all his executive decisions? They were all trivial and meaningless compared to the awful "dictator" Obama, I guess?

My impression was that he tries to pass himself off as an independent, libertarian type but underneath all the slick veneer is just another sick right-winger.

3. I listen to him, he's a bitter jerk, bitter for having been denied opportunities at university.

I abhor his juvenile ways of twisting names, no examples come to mind.

The only credit I can give him is that he doesn't shy away from bashing Republicans as much as others.

Independent, for sure. Xenophobic, yup. Nutbag, three bushels on a slow day.

9. The opportunities denied him was that UC declined to hire him as a professor.

He feels he was fully qualified and only failed to get the position because of affirmative action. His obvious personality disorder had nothing to do w ith it. He's a joke but a dangerous joke.

working on an A.M. radio show and writing a couple books, even with a couple Masters and a PhD is "Ethno-Nutrition", certainly qualifies someone to be Dean of Journalism ahead of a ... you know ... internationally recognized, albeit, China scholar and, you know, Journalist.

This was a long time ago. He was ranting and raving about immigration. He wanted people to fly upside down Mexican flags to show how much they hated immigration. I guess he is still upset about it.

Frequently playing up his Ph.D. and life experiences. Commands "debates" he has with liberal callers and always concludes declaring liberalism a "mental disorder". Here's a summary of how crazy and intellectually dishonest Savage Weiner is: http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Michael_Savage

By the way the 2nd results for google searches of his book titles "Trickle Down Tyranny" and "Trickle Up Poverty" also return Rationalwiki articles!

7. Michael Savage (born Michael Weiner) is nuts. He makes his money by extremist statements.

You can learn a lot about him by googling him. He lost his television show for telling a gay caller to 'get AIDS and die.' He has attacked businesses for employing the mentally handicapped. He tends to refer to all liberal woman as prostitutes. His comments about Justice Ginsberg are incredibly nasty and rude. It goes on and on.

He also appears to be a cheapskate (he used to run a group he called The Paul Revere Society which amounted to requests for money. He got in trouble with the I.R.S. over it. Anyway, when his mother died he tried to fundraise through his radio show and the Paul Revere Society to pay for her service, interment, etc. This is a woman he derided on the air for years.

IMO he' worse about degrading women than Limbaugh, but his audience is smaller and he hasn't been called on it.

He had a job that required a lot of driving and started listening to RW radio and would tell me how great Savage was.
I listened to exactly 10 minutes where he brought up Kerry being accused of having an affair and said that the fact that Kerry denied it, meant he was hiding something!
WTF?
So then I read up on this dickhead and he seems to be the most hateful, bitter, self-loathing piece of shit on the radio and overall bad human being I've ever heard.
Fuck him.

My friend ultimately became a right-winger and I haven't talked to him in 10 years.
Sad.

I do like the WABC news broadcast on the way home from work, but absolutely will not switch over to their station until 4:59, I'd rather hear a commercial than to listen to a word that asshat says.
