(43,182 posts)After which time, the city was guaranteed a new team by the NFL, playing in a brand new stadium, with the same Browns name and history behind it.
I can't say I feel all that bad, considering Baltimore was screwed around by the NFL for 13 years, and they were never given the old Colts name and history back. Johnny Unitas is in the Indianapolis section of the Hall of Fame, for crissakes. Do you have any idea how perverse that is?
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Cleveland got its team back so quickly and kept its name and history, but whenever Browns fans whine and moan about all the troubles they felt because of the move, I can't help but roll my eyes.
Even then, I wouldn't condemn Robert Irsay to hell. Purgatory, maybe.

(67,782 posts)...the Giants ownership insisted that Yankee Stadium be renovated, and that it would only cost $25M at the time. John Lindsay gave in. It turns out the renovation price went up to $125M, and halfway through the renovation the Giants decided to move to the new Meadowlands. That's why the Giants had to play their games in New Haven (70+ miles away) until the New Jersey stadium was completed.
The Jets insisted that the city renovate Shea Stadium or they'd leave. The city again (different mayor) agreed, but the Jets still moved to New Jersey, owner Leon Hess citing "dirty bathrooms" as one of the reasons. Ever been in the restroom at a Hess gas station? Filthy, worse than those at Shea Stadium.
With crappy stuff like that going on, I can't bring myself to root for either, or the Indianapolis Colts OR the Baltimore "Ravens". My distaste for the Ravens was only increased when Ray Lewis got away with murder or accomplice to murder because he's a football player. The Ravens probably win the Super Bowl of Thuggery.

(13,986 posts)It really sucks that Baltimore, of all cities, helped stick the knife in. They should know how it feels, and have at least waited until the court battles in Cleveland were resolved.

(7,699 posts)people with mental illness, who call punching someone (I don't care if it is male or female) in the face and
knocking them out 'making a mistake'.
That's not a 'mistake', it is a crime and is reflective of a need for psychiatric supervision, medication, or jail time.
One guy said 'who hasn't'.........how many DUers know someone who has done something like this? I don't know
a single person who ever punched someone in the face, and that includes children.

(95,337 posts)Suggestions for what to do with all the Ray Rice jerseys we collect, since there are only so many we can use for toilet paper? Let us know! Also, Hersh's will donate $2.70 to House Of Ruth Maryland, Inc. for each jersey we receive. Eat in only.
Alaina Baker-Kindsfater You could give the jerseys to an animal shelter. Then they can be used in place of blankets or towels.
