from someone who appears to be a law student in Bethlehem PA, whom he's never met?
Hi there,
I recently read that CBS5 attributed the following statement to you.
"Police shouldn't be using tanks and grenade launchers, you said.
Regardless of your perspective on police militarization, don't you think it's a little irresponsible to say that? To an outside observer, the use of disinformation reduces your credibility.

(27,461 posts)that seems to be what the law student is disputing. It's possible the law student doesn't know about it.

(2,861 posts)It is irresponsible for police to actually use tanks and grenade launchers.

(45,251 posts)Beyond that, the student makes no sense. That the police should not use tanks IS your friend's perspective on police militarization. No disinformation is involved and the burden is on the student to explain what is irresponsible about a position many in Congress are currently taking.
Sigh.

(15,584 posts)Absolutely not! It seems a perfectly fine expression of an opinion which I'm sure is backed up by thoughtful reasoning and critical thinking.

No, I don't think it's irresponsible at all. Reasonable people know that I didn't literally mean an M80 Abrams or even a Sherman, but rather was collectively referring to armored vehicles.
