Theres a reason fewer Republicans, you hear them running around about Obamacare, Pres. Obama said during a speech on the economy at Northwestern University on Thursday. Because while good, affordable health care might seem like a fanged threat to the freedom of the American people on Fox News it turns out its working pretty well in the real world.
President Obama also called out Republicans for dogmatically supporting massive tax cuts for the wealthy, but having practically no evidence to back up their ludicrous economic policy positions.
If there were any credible argument that says when those at the top do well and eventually everybody else will do well, it would have borne itself out by now, the president said. Wed see data that that was true. Its not. American economic greatness has never trickled down from the top. It grows from a rising, thriving middle class and opportunity for working people. Thats what makes us different.

(11,833 posts)The President is exactly right. Republicans in Congress and on corporate owned channels like Fox discuss further tax cuts for the top 1%, while there is zero evidence it would improve the economy. Meanwhile they have rejected every single proposal that would strengthen the middle class or grow jobs.

(165 posts)Why is Fox News silent about the Republicans decreasing the funding of the CDC on an annual basis. Must be a GOP kept secret. The Republicans are against any form of health care for the nation or people.

(2,062 posts)I have in the past and always will say... " The true job creators are the working middle class, not the company owners. " Allow me to explain...A company, indeed hires people to work for them, and yes they create jobs, but if the company does not sell its product or service, then the jobs it creates are not long lasting. If the middle class worker, and no I am not discounting the upper and lower classes either, but if the middle class purchase the goods and services by the companies, so in the long run, a healthy middle class will spur job growth, and continue to provide revenue for this country to stay strong. Huge tax cuts are wonderful on paper, but not for running a country. Although, a tax cut can assist the middle class in saving some money, but the majority of families would spend on that new refridgerator, or clothes, etc....
