These founding fathers gave us many great things including our constitutional republic. A rather novel idea at the time which now is becoming the norm worldwide. Also, the belief in the rights of the individual over the state which led to the protections set forth in the first ten amendments to the constitution known as the Bill of Rights. Not bad in my humble opinion.

Yes, the cultural norms of their day had them engaging in practices which are abhorrent by today's standards yet the constitution they left as their legacy has helped us to overcome these.

Most of the great change of the last century came not from politicians but rather, from Judges and Justices who, relying on this constitutional gift our founders left us, have righted many of our countries historical wrongs.

In short, ours is the worst system in the world, except for all of the others. Because our system is run be humans, who are imperfect, imperfections will hence plague our system. Yet, our system has ensured that we have the tools to continue to fix these shortcomings.

I would rather live nowhere else. That says a lot given, as an American, I can actually up an leave to go somewhere else.
