I live in Palm Beach County...known as the 6th borough of NYC. I was getting a bagel and coffee yesterday morning and some New York men were in line behind me. With a thick NY accent the one said to the other...
"I don't give a shit if he believes in Jesus, Santa Claus or the fucking Easter Bunny...all I care is if he can throw a touchdown."
I, along with about 5 other people in line, were cracking up. Personally I think Tim Tebow is going to be in for a rude awakening in NY. If he sucks they will twist him up and throw him away. The fans in NY are relentless.

(31,706 posts)It's not only New York fans who think that way....they're just louder about it. The bottom line on Tebow is his "entertainment" value. If he leads the Jets to bigger and better on the field he'll be the toast of the town...doesn't matter who he worships. If he fails...as you say, he'll get chewed up and spit out. The same applies to Ozzie Guillen...if the Marlins make it to the World Series all is forgotten...everyone loves a winner.

(8,224 posts)As a Jets fan, I don't think Tebow and Sanchez on the field at the same time would amount to much of a threat to the Patriots...
I don't get this trade. They already have a quarterback who doesn't really start playing until the third quarter, to this they add a quarterback that doesn't get going until 7:00 minutes left in the 4th. I don't see how this will make them any better.
You should be happy with Tebow just consuming salary cap, even if he is on the bench.

(3,845 posts)And, I don't know, maybe I'm the one changing; maybe it's that I'm increasingly aware of it rather than it increasingly being that way. But either way I'm starting to stop watching sports because I can't stomach it. It is too much a way for them to sneak in a point of view that has nothing to do with sports, usually either Christianity or militarism. Fuck them.
