Indiana trooper pulled over woman to ask if she’d accepted Jesus Christ as her savior: lawsuit

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/10/indiana-trooper-pulled-over-woman-to-ask-if-shed-accepted-jesus-christ-as-her-savior-lawsuit/

An Indiana woman says a state trooper pulled her over this summer and asked if she had accepted Jesus Christ as her personal lord and savior.

Ellen Bogan said she was stopped in August by Indiana State Trooper Brian Hamilton, who asked whether she had a home church and handed her a pamphlet asking her to “acknowledge she is a sinner.”

“It’s completely out of line and it just — it took me back,” Bogan told The Indianapolis Star.

She filed a federal lawsuit with the American Civil Liberties Union against Hamilton, claiming the trooper violated her First and Fourth Amendment rights.

I realize keyboard warriors are a dime a dozen, but I promise you, had that been me, I'd have started filming (which I do anyway whenever circumstances warrant) and read this guy the riot act. If true, what a JACKASS.

I have been a proponent of that for a looong time. Had the unpleasant experience of being targeted by an unhinged cop once and I said "never again." Now my cell phone is one-touch, live record/upload until it's broken or runs out of battery.

though--it's not standard equipment. If it were, they'd probably find some way to jam it

Most people have those jazzy smart phones and one can do this sort of thing on the cheap. Just get one of those apps that set it to a one-touch record/upload, and keep it stuck to one of those little farty sticky things that are attached to the dash. Push that button the second you get pulled over, and don't roll down the window too far or unlock the door. http://www.cellphoneshop.net/window.html?CAWELAID=1391152742&CAGPSPN=pla&catargetid=530001600000077792&cadevice=c&gclid=CPC6vbedmcECFaIF7Aod7CUARQ

And TODAY a judge had to order Fergus police ...

That is the very definition of a government official establishing religion.

I know for a fact that they look for out of state plates to pull over and give fake tickets to and its happened to me. I got pulled over going 60 in a 55 with the officer claiming I was going 76. It was my first ticket and it was 76 dollars so I just payed it because I just wanted to be done with it but if that had happened today I would have fought the fuck out of it.

who came to teach forgiveness. Something that most of us most definitely need a lot more practice in. But a personal savior? Well I have so many, I guess one more won't hurt. Let's see, I've got Sakyamuni Buddha, Chenrezig, Vajrasattva, Medicine Buddha, Manjushri, Green and White Tara, Vajrapani, Guru Rinpoche, Lord Shiva, Lord Krishna, well you get the point, I hope.

God is a concept ... in your mind ... a meta-meta-meta-cooncept. And as such, god lives within you as you. Don't believe in a creator god? Well neither do I, but I'm open to the possibility. But never in a million years would I assume that to ask you such a stupid, intrusive, and insulting question. That trooper needs to be sat down and taught about crossing boundaries.
