Hunky Shirtless Men Pose With Adorable Dogs To Raise Funds For Animal Rights

By Jillian Wong, 09 Oct 2014

Ladies, this one’s for you. New York City-based animal rescue group Louie’s Legacy Animal Group has unveiled its 2015 calendar featuring hunky shirtless men posing with adorable dogs.

Aptly titled ‘Hunks and Hounds’, it aims to raise funds for the organization and promote animal rights.

The photographs were shot by celebrity photographer Mike Ruiz, who is a proud owner to his beloved pit bull Oliver, which he adopted in 2012.

“I just hope that people enjoy the images, and that they are reminded daily that adopting and loving an animal is the most humane thing a human can do. I hope we sell a million so that Louie’s Legacy can broaden their services to be able to help more dogs find forever homes.”

The calendar costs US$19.99 and ships 24 November 2014.

do you know what wet food and dry kibble costs a month? And all those animal shots...and time spent doing walkies, while having to find plastic bags for picking up after the dog during walkies... its ...its expensive.... (but worth it for pet owners who love their animals!)

I've read here time and again that this sort of thing is pornification and objectification when PETA does it and it involves women (only).

How can this be?

Woo hoo, PETA thread!

Not sure this has any thing to do with PETA.

Although I'm sure someone, somewhere, will have a tantrum about the fact that folks are finding people attractive on the basis of superficial physical characteristics.

I think its silly but if it raises money for animal rights and involves a no kill shelter for dogs, and cats too for that matter, I am all for it. Last year I made some extra money and donated 500 dollars to a no kill animal shelter...asking they buy cat food and kitty litter for the shelter.

Seriously, I only laugh because somewhere on this planet there are supposed to be dooodz who like to look at the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit models but will allegedly have a meltdown if confronted by a picture of a sexy, shirtless guy.

Eh. I don't like macaroni and cheese, either, but it doesn't bother me that other people do.

Today is the day of irony, in a few places. We have this thread, and of course, the "All Israelis (well, really just the Jews) are racists" thread. I also think you guys aren't the ones who are supposed to "meltdown", thus the irony. My partner and I were watching "The Biggest Loser" tonight, and the new female trainer was on the beach and my partner said "WOW!" and I followed up with, "As gay as I am (I am cleaning up what I actually said!), the only way someone would not find her attractive is if they were blind or dead!" We all have standards of beauty. We "objectify" people in all kinds of ways, not just by their looks, and we often do it to ourselves.

As much as I like you, this whole not liking "mac n' cheese" thing...duuuude!

It's sad that no-kill shelters have to go begging, and that humane treatment of animals fall beneath the strength of lobbies. I give when I can to Posado's Safe Haven up here and they have even come to rescue wild animals that I found injured before. A lot of good people care about animals, and I'm guessing these guys do, too.
