The Washington Post called it "40 painful seconds"...

(92,216 posts)that is an important question. Grimes is her own person
How about this question media to McConnell, did you vote for Romney and if you did you must be against equal rights for equal work, anti-women, and against healthcare for all

(111,098 posts)You know they would never say. It's a secret ballot and she does not have to say who she voted for.

(30,058 posts)McConnell has been harping on in this election. We don't need to give the GOP assistance in doing this. She declined to answer this question and she was ask again.

(111,098 posts)She may have voted for Obama but he sort of stabbed her in the back with his timing on his new environmental standards. At the same time, he gave Mitch McConnell ammunition to use against her. Even if she had wanted to support the President, he made it impossible for her to do so. He left her no choice but to support the miners of Eastern Kentucky over the President's policies. If she wanted to win, she had to divorce herself from Barack Obama.

(111,098 posts)If she turns the table and asks the next reporter who asks her the same question, that will be the last time she will get it, I guarantee it.

(111,098 posts)If you ask the reporter who they voted for, there are very few that will tell you. Its their private business.

(111,267 posts)A refusal to answer is just a refusal to answer and should be respected instead of turning into a "what is she hiding?" gotcha moment from a gutter reporter.
If some reporter tried to grill me on my own voting history, I'd tell him to go to hell.

(17,663 posts)She's soooo smart. Damn. She'll be a GREAT senator.
She's not running to represent DU, but to represent Kentucky, and she's going to do a kick ass job. Go get em Alison!
She's going to be a leader from the git go. I think she is going to win.

(19,565 posts)Ugh. US politics are such a mess. No small bit of thanks to our media and their lust for clickbait instead of journalism.

(7,759 posts)Of, course not everything was done that needed to be done but with the mess that the GOP administration left behind, overall, the President has done a remarkable job at moving us forward in the face of unprecedented opposition. Maybe the next two years will be better if the GOP in Congress decides that they are Americans first and Obama haters second."

(135,425 posts)I mean, really--we know what the deal is, and the game she has to play, given where she's from.
Fuck the WAPO. The PAINFUL SECONDS are all on THEM, not the candidate. They need to stop writing bullshit, and then eating it up like it's ice cream. Big FAIL on THEM.

EVERYONE running for office on the south or a red state should say this.

(10 posts)She's trying to play both sides of the fence. Now I fear she has pretty much handed it over to Mitch, because all the progressive folks who WOULD have voted for her are becoming completely disgusted.
