I thought this whole thing wasn't supposed to be *about* Edward Snowden? Blue_Tires Oct 2014 #1
It isn't. Any more than a statue of Jefferson isn't about Jefferson. Tierra_y_Libertad Oct 2014 #2
I'm pretty sure Jefferson got most of his statues after he died Blue_Tires Oct 2014 #4

That's what his fans have been telling me all this time, at least...

In both cases it's about what they did.

when the full scope of his deeds could be evaluated through the scope of history...

This just seems like hero-worship fanboyism in my eyes...

Do people have to be dead to be admired for their deeds? I admire what Snowden did when he showed us what the NSA is doing. Just as I admire Daniel Ellsberg for exposing what we were doing in Vietnam.

It's just another target for pigeons!

I'll bet someone is very disappointed today!
Because whoever built that statue expected Snowden to get the Nobel Peace Prize today!

And there's Glenn, standing next to it.
Must be a coincidence that he was the first one to see it, huh?

Naw, I'll bet you a brazillion dollars he thought that Snowden was going to win the Nobel Peace Prize, too.
Because the Guardian took a poll, don'tcha ya know.
The poll results are in the article in the Good Reads forum, in a thread by Judy Lynn.

To which I would like to say, Thank you, Judy!!

So, @ggreenwald & I were having breakfast & a truck pulls up with a statue of Edward Snowden: pic.twitter.com/AkRW0Gs2Do

And he photographs oddly. Most of the time he seems to have an elongated head but from some angles it looks rounder and shorter.
Here he seems to have an unusually large head:

A nice new statue for the pigeons to shit all over. And I thought Greenwald was afraid to come to the US because Pres Obama was just itching to arrest him.

is diligently on the job.

[font size=3]

The diligence of the smear brigade is directly proportional to the severity and seriousness of the crimes revealed by Snowden, being committed by our corporate government against its own people.

The real reason a very loud few are posting hostility toward Glenn Greenwald (and Edward Snowden) at DU (256 recs)

NSA spying and inequality are deeply, inextricably linked.
