Not a pilot either, but a life long affection for airplanes, so I do know this;

He over corrected.

A big plane like that does NOT handle like a Pitts Special and takes a LOOOOONG time to react to aileron inputs (The tabs on the wings that make them go up or down facilitating a turn)

And by long time I mean a few extra seconds.

The plane was very likely empty, and at full power can almost stand on it's tail and shoot upward in that situation. He looked like he over corrected to the right after the left bank, but I've seen video of 747's at airshows do a lot more, so he didn't put the plane in any danger.

But it was hotdogging, to be sure!

Thanks Bro. As always... YOU ROCK!

I've seen some seriously amazing footage of 747-100 test flights. Dragging the tail on takeoffs and landings etc. That's one hell of an airplane and always has been.

Hope all is well with you!

Chris

Right up the street from the now very sad looking Silverdome.

Check out www.flightaware.com

I get a weekly email from them with some pretty cool vids and stories.

Best,

Paul

Witness: Striker was the squadron leader. He brought us in real low. But he couldn't handle it.

Prosecutor: Buddy couldn't handle it? Was Buddy one of your crew?

Witness: Right. Buddy was the bombardier. But it was Striker who couldn't handle it, and he went to pieces.

Prosecutor: *Andy* went to pieces?

Witness: No. Andy was the navigator. He was all right. Buddy went to pieces. It was awful how he came unglued.

Prosecutor: *Howie* came unglued?

Witness: Oh, no. Howie was a rock, the best tailgunner in the outfit. Buddy came unglued.

Prosecutor: And he bailed out?

Witness: No. Andy hung tough. Buddy bailed out. How he survived, it was a miracle.

Prosecutor: Then Howie survived?

Witness: No, 'fraid not. We lost Howie the next day.
