Has anyone pointed out the Royals owner used to run Walmart?

I get it.

Pulling for the underdog is cool.

But the reason they're underdogs is because he runs them the way he ran Walmart: By paying his employees the minimum amount possible.

It's not fashionable but I kind of like the Yankees approach: Pay your employees a ton and give your fans the greatest return on their investment of loyalty.

YMMMV.

Your analogy kinds of falls apart when the lowest paid player on the Royals makes $500k per year. FSogol Oct 2014 #1

Not really a good comparison to the minimum wage Walmart worker. Plus there are 12 teams with lower salaries than the Royals.

For a fan to watch and appreciate professional sports, you have already decided to ignore millionaire players and usually unsavory billionaire owners.

PS. Screw the Yankees.

Nobody is being underpaid they are just generally less talented or picking up players through good scouting who have not proven themselves yet and will sign a lower priced contract. That's good scouting.

Tax money to pay for their venues, maintaining a ridiculous payroll, and pricing their products beyond the reach of those who are paying for it all. .

Yes they pay less than the Yankees, but their players are not as good as the Yankees statistically.

If the players on the Royals could get more money they would have signed with another team for more money.

every time, and I focus on the players. The Vikings' owners have engaged in some pretty weaselly - not to say illegal - business practices outside the NFL but I root for the players in purple and white, not the owners. The Royals are a great story and classic underdogs.

The Yankees business model sucks, the Yankee's fans suck, Yankee stadium sucks, As a matter of fact I can see space and time bend when I drive through The Bronx because of all the suck power from the Yankees.

Nothing completely sucks.

There are variations in everything.

Some Yankees are quite decent folks.

Watch this clip. Best eye-roll ever in an ad. I defy you to post a better one.

The Yankees are the team of the wealthy in NY...they have to be because of their monumentally high payroll. Your hating on the Royals seems to deny that the players are worthy.. .yet the Yankees are passing your test...

OK, then. Prove it. Of course, a single anecdote really doesn't prove a damn thing, but, well, whatever.

You make a claim, you prove it. And one guy isn't going to support your claim, even if you can justify an Ayn Rand supporter as more ethical than the KC owner.

Seriously, this not hard stuff.
