(114,904 posts)Stunning? Only in its idiocy. I realize its human nature to demonize one's enemies, but I've always thought it extraordinarily dangerous. Now, I suppose, someone will tell me that I must like the tea party to be saying this.
That list is not only dishonest, it could be applied to hundreds of groups/governments. No more accurately perhaps, but it could.
What are the differences? Let's go one by one: The Nazis weren't conservative. Neither, really, is the tea party, but the use of the word conservative is just inaccurate.
The Tea Party is not a party. And even if they were a political party, that the tea party or any other political party is represented by red, is utterly meaningless.
The Nazis didn't merely want to eliminate Jews (and the disabled, and gays and the Roma) They did so. (and I've long thought the argument (they would if they could) is pointless.
The Nazis were not particularly known for their support of the upper class, and again, so what? Most governments of most countries "support the upper class".
To reiterate, the reason this kind of crap bothers me so much, is that demonization is so dangerous.
