Kansas woman, 100, raped in her home during burglary, police say

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a 100-year-old woman, Wichita police said Friday.

The incident occurred on the night of Sept. 29, said Wichita police Capt. Troy Livingston. The woman walked to a neighbour’s house at about 7:15 a.m. the next day and said there were people inside her house.

“She’s a strong and brave woman who was able to give us information,” Livingston said of the victim.

The woman, who lives alone, said she was awakened about 9 p.m. by intruders inside her house, police said. One or more burglars forced their way inside through a back door. They remained in the house for several hours.

I'm not sure why that post gets hidden for suggesting a rapist get raped, while there appears to be no problem suggesting that the rapist be sleep deprived to an extent that is recognized as torture, or publicly hanged, or castrated. Not that I am saying that any of these punishments are (or aren't) okay, that's a different conversation. I just am not sure why one post should be hidden and the others are acceptable.

it was just a logical place to put it in the thread.

Nah, I won't alert on the other posts. While I'm not saying I agree with their sentiments, the presence of the posts does not bother me either way. I mean, I happen to be against the death penalty, but that doesn't mean I'm going to alert on every post in favor of it. And really, I think sometimes these posts are just emotional reactions expressing understandable shock and indignation, but if push came to shove, these people wouldn't actually endorse these punishments. It's more a statement of anger than one of what they really think should be done.

I kind of doubt there are many people here who seriously think any of these things are appropriate things for the government to do. So as I kind of said in a followup post, I think these posts are understandable emotional reactions, but not genuine suggestions/endorsements of what they think would be appropriate public policy. So I was kind of surprised that one would be singled out. But, as another reply basically said, people can report on whatever they want, and juries will do what they will...

as it should not be.

Are posts advocating castration alerted on? If so and left, that jury decided to not hide it.

This is tough for anyone to endure, but for it to happen to someone so old and frail is just tragic. What a way to end your life.

Or was she just guilty of being female?

I hope someone is there to take good care of this woman because the trauma could send her downhill pretty quickly. And I hope they provide some ongoing counseling to try to deal with it.

No wait, women don't get pregs from rape, their body has a mysterious way of shutting that down.....no wait, old women aren't worth f*ing, so those dirty libs are lying...no wait, she must have invited them in for cookies and then, well, one thing led to another, no means yes, what was she wearing, boys will be boys. They have a future ahead of them, we must think of their careers.

Prayers for this STRONG woman!
