(18,672 posts)He was basically an imperialist tool as so many historical figures were. Many of us were raised to revere him. Finding out we were brainwashed sort of makes one focus on all the things we weren't told.

Teach the children the entire history. How else will they know to avoid repeating the mistakes of previous generations?
