We were promised that she was an amazing and dynamic candidate who would surely break the Republican lock on Texas.
She has run hard-hitting ads and performed well in debates.
So, when can we see some positive results from that? When will we start to see some evidence that she is anything more than just another in a long list of losers in a state that has not elected a Democrat in 20 years?
We continue to wait.

(3,212 posts)but Mayor Anise Parker's actions to subpoena the churches have riled up A LOT of folks around here. I think voter turn is going to be heavier on the republican side than it would have been otherwise.

(10,650 posts)Everyone knew, or should have, that Wendy Davis had a huge uphill battle to beat the republican. Texas is as right wing as any state. If the candidate has the R next to his or her name, he or she could be a child abuser and still beat most Democrats there.
Your compliant puzzles me.

(24,780 posts)On Texas? When? I don't recall anyone even saying she'd be competitive. Whoever said it does not know Texas and probably doesn't even live here.
Actually nobody promised anything remotely close to that. She'll be lucky to get 43% of the vote.
I dont expect any significant movement until at best the week before the election.

Here's a thread bemoaning the Democratic Governor's association not supporting Wendy, many replies make it sound like she had a real valid chance.

(24,780 posts)But those posts are pretty much spot on. 42-43% for her is very best case. It'll take 45-47% to win.
That would be the best any Dem has done in over 30 years.
You may want to look at my profile for my member since info.

(146,325 posts)I don't know what state you live in, but it's tough for people in one state to influence voters in another. About the only thing you can do is to send money to the campaign. Have you done that?

(17,398 posts)It was never going to happen. But you have to give it to her, she is throwing the kitchen sink at Abbott.

(32,086 posts)Despite the hype surrounding Texas Democrat Wendy Daviss run for governor, the chairman of the Democratic Governors Association didnt include her state in a list of top targets in 2014.
Ms. Davis, a state senator, gained national acclaim for filibustering a bill last year that increased regulation of abortion clinics and banned abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Polls show Republican nominee Greg Abbott with a double-digit lead in the state, which hasnt elected a Democrat since 1994.
Were hopeful in Texas but we all understand that Democrats havent won Texas in a long time, DGA Chairman and Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin told reporters Tuesday at the Third Way think tank. He added, We hope this will be our year. http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2014/04/29/wendy-daviss-race-in-texas-isnt-a-top-target-for-dga/
You know it, I know it, and hopefully Wendy was still promised something in Washington at the end of this farce.
Attempting to rewrite the story now doesn't change what happened.
