"Prisons: The Ins and The Outs" book project
There are only THREE DAYS to go before this Kickstarter project ends. We are getting close, but we still have about $900 to go. Remember, every little bit helps - $5.00, $10.00, $20.00 or of course more! It is important to note that if we dont reach our goal, the project will not be funded. Maria Telesco works tirelessly on prison issues on behalf of the Center.

Please do not be discouraged by the donation process. You DO NOT need to go through Facebook. If you scroll down, you will be asked for your email address and a password. This is NOT your private email password. This is a new one that you create and will only be used to access your Kickstarter account. It is easy and not risky. It should take less than two minutes. You will then be asked to open an Amazon account you may, of course, already have one and it is here that you put in your credit card information. Please note that this is a pledge that you are making and it stays with your Amazon/Kickstarter account until the amount needed is reached whereupon your credit card is charged If we do not reach the $3,000 asked for, your credit card will NOT BE charged.
We hope you can join us for a good cause. Remember every little bit helps!

Maria has worked with Amnesty International and Death Penalty Focus. She has visited many prisons and Condemned units ("Death Row" in the United States, to learn about conditions there.
She has also visited, counseled and advocated for many condemned prisoners.
When a Federal judge ordered investigation of the medical care in California prisons, Ms. Telesco was part of the medical/legal team, California Prison Focus, that interviewed prisoners who had complaints regarding their medical care. Her work contributed to the Federal courts putting the medical care in California prisons into Federal Receivership, where it remains today.
Maria Telesco, under the umbrella of the Fresno Center for Nonviolence, is seeking funds to complete her new book "Prisons: The Ins and The Outs." This project has been in the works for a year now. We need to hire a student assistant to edit and help Maria to prepare the manuscript for publishing. In addition to bringing an important work to the public, these funds would offer an excellent opportunity for a student to learn more about these subjects while earning money to contribute to his/her college fund.
Featured in the book by Richard Stone, Hidden in Plain Sight: Profiles of Fresnos Unsung Progressive Activists, Maria Telesco has written extensively about the California prison system and the lives and difficulties of inmates and their families as well as the politics involved with the prison system. Ms. Telesco is the co-author of Outsiders Looking In : How To Keep From Going Crazy When Someone You Love Goes To JAIL. Telesco has been the president of the Fresno Center for Nonviolence for over ten years.

OMG! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!! I'M SO EXCITED. I'M OVERWHELMED. AND I'M SORT OF "ALL SHOOK UP." IT'S HARD FOR ME TO WRAP MY HEAD AROUND HOW ALL OF YOU WENT TO SUCH A LOT OF WORK TO DO THIS FOR ME. BUT NOT SURPRISED BECAUSE YOU ALL ARE SUCH GOOD AND LOYAL FRIENDS. THE REALLY SURPRISING ITEM IS THAT ALL THOSE PEOPLE DONATED ALL THAT MONEY. THAT'S JUST INCREDIBLE!!!
TODAY KOURTNIE AND I DID A WHOLE LOT OF WORK EDITING, AND IT'S GOING ALONG QUITE WELL. WE BOTH FEEL GREAT RELIEF THAT NOW WE WILL BE ABLE TO CONTINUE WORKING TOGETHER.
