Gun control coached in the Ebola debate language.

Frankly, the efforts at Gun Control are the rantings of ill informed individuals who are acting out of fear, and I prefer logic. Yes, I know that we've just had another school shooting. These events are frankly, over publicized in an effort to drive up media ratings.

It makes no sense to quarantine the guns, because your odds of being shot depend entirely upon your proximity to an active shooter. The CDC says that a mere 30,000 people died from gunfire last year. Those people are certainly somewhat to blame since they failed to take simple precautions, like not being near an active shooter, for this. But regardless, we're talking about ten deaths per one hundred thousand people. That is a fraction of one percent of the population. This is not an epidemic no matter how you look at it.

If you are not close to an active shooter, you simply put can not get shot. So unless you hang out where active shooters go, or with people who want to be at the center of an active shooter situation, you're almost completely and totally safe.

We have the best medical departments in the world, and well established protocols for treating gunshot wounds. These medical departments are the best in the world, and I will place my faith in them over some hysteria about banning guns. Those nations who have banned guns have done so because they have far less advanced medical care, otherwise they would trust the treatment rather than the prevention.

Does any of this sound asinine? You bet it does. Turning our backs on the dangers that guns present to the population would be insane. Yet we do embrace this insanity every day we avoid taking the action that the public wants in overwhelming numbers in quarantining the people traveling from the reasons suffering the outbreak of Ebola.

This stupidity was posted in an effort to get some of us on this message board to understand how dumb the arguments against quarantine sound. Flame away gang, and enjoy.

A sensible observation. I can certainly see parallels between guns and Ebola when the conversation shifts from "whats can we reasonably do to improve our situation" to "omg close all the airports, and, omg seize all the guns".

There are more gun owners than police and military in the country.

I realize the comment was in jest, but just saying...
